A Crossville man was arrested New Year’s Eve after he allegedly ran away from the scene of a traffic accident. Police were dispatched to the intersection of Genesis Road and Interstate Drive around 10:20pm Friday where they discovered a white Chevrolet Sonic and a green Jeep Liberty crashed in the intersection. Multiple subjects told police that the driver of the Chevy had taken off running down Interstate Drive. William Ray Heath, 32, of Crossville, was apprehended in a church parking lot. Police say he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Heath was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and two counts reckless endangerment. Heath was transported to the Cumberland County Jail for booking. Heath’s passenger, 35-year-old Michael Ziglar, was reportedly not wearing a seat belt and was injured. Ziglar was taken to the hospital by EMS. The driver of the Jeep, 23-year-old Trevor Tucker, told police he was traveling south on Genesis Road through the green light when he noticed the Chevy crossing over into the turning lane, then kept coming over. Tucker stated he tried to pull his vehicle over to the right hand side of the intersection as much as he could and then his vehicle was hit, totaling the Jeep.
