The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) to promote “Slow Down Tennessee.” During October 15 – 29, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will increase education and enforcement efforts to help reduce speeding-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities statewide. The public is encouraged to participate by using #SlowDownTN on social media to help spread awareness.

Since January 01, 2021 to the present time, there have been 46 traffic accidents reported in Cumberland County, where speed was determined to be a contributing factor.

“It is the responsibility of the driver to exercise safe driving at all times and maintain a speed suitable for road conditions, even if it requires the driver to travel less than the posted speed limit,” said Sheriff Casey Cox.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting random saturation patrols in the effort to identify and stop speeding drivers and reduce speed related accidents.
