A Putnam County man died after his motorcycle crashed with a pickup truck Tuesday night on West Jackson Street in Cookeville. The accident happened shortly before 9pm. James P. Austin, 31, was found deceased at the scene. His 30-year-old female passenger was critically injured. According to reports, Austin was traveling west and the pickup truck, driven by a Rickman man, was traveling east. The truck attempted to turn left into the parking lot of a gas station and that’s when the vehicles collided. The crash is still under investigation.
