The Tennessee Highway Safety Office and area Law Enforcement Agencies will be participating in the “40 on 40” Saturation Campaign in an effort to make I-40 safer for everyone Memorial Weekend. Law enforcement from Bristol to Memphis will increase enforcement each day starting on Friday, May 28th from 2pm to 12am through May 31st. This will encompass a total of 40 hours of additional enforcement during the high crash times on I-40 and roadways that are adjacent to I-40.
Fred Sherrill with the THSO says the campaign will focus heavily in Cumberland, Roane and Putnam Counties. In addition to getting impaired drivers and those who make poor decisions off I-40, “40 on 40” will also be a large part of the “Click It or Ticket” campaign.
