Jim Oliver’s Smokehouse, a landmark restaurant in Grundy County, TN was destroyed in a fire Tuesday afternoon.  The cause of the blaze was not immediately known.  Officials said the cabins and Inn were evacuated and no one was injured.  The Oliver family started the business in 1960 and Jim’s children still operated it today. The Smoke House Restaurant opened in 1975 making Monteagle a favorite stop for tired, hungry travelers along the Dixie Highway.  Early reports indicate that firefighters were able to save the cabin and hotel but the restaurant and gift shop are gone.
