Cumberland County Schools Closed Friday, April 9 After Storm Event Thursday In Pleasant Hill

CUMBERLAND COUNTY JOINT PRESS RELEASE

For immediate press release from the Cumberland County Mayor’s Office, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, Cumberland County Fire, Cumberland County EMS, Cumberland County EMA, Cumberland County Schools

At approximately 3:17 p.m. on Thursday April 8, emergency crews were dispatched to the area of Pleasant Hill Elementary for a severe weather event. Upon arrival, it was determined that only minor injuries were sustained and no one was transported due to injury. Pleasant Hill Elementary, Fletcher House, and the Community House did sustain some damage while the area continues to be assessed. All students and faculty are accounted for.

As a result of this event and the continuing assessment of damages, Cumberland County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, April 9.

Emergency Management Agency requests that everyone avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to continue their work.   If additional information becomes available additional releases will be made.
