The Cumberland County Board of Education approved a resolution to give all school system employees a bonus in appreciation of their work during the COVID-19 pandemic. The board expanded on a state increase that only included a one-time non-recurring benefit for BEP funded certified personnel and nursing staff. Cumberland County will receive $292,000 from the state and will make up additional funding for the bonus from the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief act and left over money from the unfilled teaching positions.
