Crossville Man Arrested In Connection To U.S. Capitol Riots

A Cumberland County man has been taken into custody for allegedly taking part in the U.S. Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.  The U.S. Attorney Middle District of Tennessee reports that 28-year-old Bryan Wayne Ivey, of Crossville, was arrested by FBI agents Thursday morning (3/4/21) in Cookeville.  The U.S. Attorney’s Office has also released pictures that reportedly show Mr. Ivey on his phone during the Capitol riots.  Mr. Ivey was scheduled to make an initial appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge on Thursday (3/4/21).  He is the 8th person in Tennessee to be arrested in connection to the January riots the U.S. Capitol.

 WKRN reports, in a teleconference, Bryan Ivey of Crossville was charged with four misdemeanor counts including entering a restricted building; disorderly conduct in a restricted building; disorderly conduct in a Capitol building; and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building. Ivey waived the right to a preliminary hearing in the Middle District of Tennessee but retained the right to request a hearing in the prosecuting district in Washington, D.C. The government did not request that Ivey be detained before trial but imposed several conditions on him, including restrictions on his use of social media.
