Dolly Parton is asking state lawmakers to abandon a bill that would erect a statue to the country music legend on the Capitol grounds. “Given all that is going on in the world, I don’t think putting me on a pedestal is appropriate at this time,” Parton said in a statement on Twitter. She indicated that after she has passed away she would stand proudly at the State Capitol if she were still deemed deserving of such an honor.
