The TBI has been called in to investigate after a Bledsoe County man died after a K9 was deployed while police were trying to arrest him. It happened Sunday on Brockdell Road. Police reportedly went to the home of 42-year-old Chad Songer to serve him with warrants. At some point the K9 was released and Mr. Songer collapsed and became unresponsive as officers were trying to apprehend him. Songer was pronounced dead at the hospital. While the cause of death has not been released, Bledsoe County Sheriff Jimmy Morris told WTVC it “most definitely was not the dog.”
